Taiwan 2017, passage across the South China Sea from Hong Kong This passage was made in light winds from all directions, and much attention had to be made to the big fishing trawlers operating in the area. We had to zig zag to avoid them and often by using the engine. The passage took 3 days with a total distance of 400 Nm. We had to motor 48 hours. The south going current was very strong at the south tip of Taiwan where we entered the fishing harbour of Houbihu.
We liked our stay in Taiwan, and took the fast train to charming Taipei City, and visited the interesting museums. We also took time to drive through the spectacular gorge south east of Taipei.
